What a masculine dog, with beautiful type and the silhouette called for in the standard! He epitomises the square outline, while losing nothing in his front and hind angulation. Text book proportions produce the goods in this breed – a longer than average head, a neck around 2/3rds the length of the head, without losing layback of the shoulder and in a vertical line with the elbows, that would otherwise produce a ‘stuffiness' to the front assembly. The fill, depth, width and prominence of his correctly-constructed forehand, absent of loaded fat but supported by well-defined muscles, particularly around the upper arm and the correct Spinone ‘open and flexible' elbow area, allow his strong front limbs to draw right under his frame with ease. This support system also allows this dog to strike off from a static pose without labour and his natural, free stride easily extends into a sure-footed, but relaxed ‘Spinone' gait. Without the support and correct proportions throughout, over-reaching or evasive foot placement is a possible hazard for such a compact dog – but not this one! His ‘attitude' draws him up and propels him forward. What a showman! Complimented by a wide, strong rump and thigh and correct equal balance of metatarsus/tibia to thigh, he shows effortless hock action and unexaggerated forward reach from the complete hind assembly. An intermittent lift of his tail above the horizontal had to be forgiven today, as it does little to detract from his super profile and reinforces his presence and demeanour without being overtly ‘masculine' for the breed. This was a typical situation - where type and strong bone are evident - when there was a moment that his head may disappoint. Not so! Beautifully balanced, with correct planes - he has an intelligent and expressive soft, brown eye and the fine detail called for in the breed standard matching a typical head. He is one of the most exciting dogs of the decade for me and took BOB today over a stylish, feminine and high quality bitch that I personally would not be disappointed to send through to a Group. But - he demanded - and he could not be denied.

A Dutch champion that will be a force to be reckoned with wherever he competes. lmperious in stance, he has a natural ring presence and is blessed with an outgoing temperament. All the essentials were present, a trong arched neck leading to a well formed body with ample width and depth throughout, well angulated forequarter where the return of upperarm, places his elbows well under his body while his muscled rear had a good expanse of thigh. A well proportioned masculine head with an expression that retains the softness and honesty of the breed. No tip top lappying about. straight in to his stride, leaving little doubt where his vocation lies. His conformation including the effective use of his hocks makes him truly functional. B.D & B.O.B

I have awarded this class dog a group abroad when he was young. Haven't seen him since but he now has maturity and finish to complete the previously quality picture. He is just such a super, masculine yet not overdone animal. Has the attributes required for the breed, plus, he is 'confident and works in total harmony with his unobtrusive handler, with such supple easy, positive action from strong quarters that he cannot be overlooked. CC BOB.
